“Janav’s mother, in particular, is more “liberated” than an Indian woman would have been in the historical Raj, but in just a few words and gestures, she shows us how she must still keep her strength hidden in a man’s world.”
“Clockwork Watch ticks the right trope boxes for things you’d like to see: Victorian setting, steam technology, automatons and the mixture of innovation and futurism that came with the birth of the industrial revolution. It also brings a nice little twist in that the main characters are not your usual expected gentlemen inventor types but rather a family from Calcutta who have been invited to England thanks to the father’s magnificent creation – a clockwork man.”
All the artwork for Clockwork Watch: The Arrival is drawn and painted by hand. Want to see what it takes to produce one page? Here’s Jennie…
Flicks and the City’s Jan Gilbert caught up with Clockwork Watch creator Yomi Ayeni at Kapow-Con in London, to get the skinny on this project. He explains how the story started, his inspiration and why he chose this genre.
We hooked up with Jimmy Aquino of the Comic News Insider while we were at the Bristol Comic Expo. You can listen to his interview here
Copies of The Arrival are being delivered around the world, so we decided to map the scale of interest in our story.

Yayy! Another action packed weekend. We finally had our industry launch – at the Bristol Comic Expo. Corey, Jennie and Yomi had a table at the show, as well as a panel discussion. We sat alongside the Barry and David of Geek Syndicate, the Markosia family, and Kill Shakespeare.
The interest in The Arrival and the whole project was very encouraging. We’re fired-up and looking forward to many of the challenges associated with producing a new project such as Clockwork Watch.
We’d like to thank Harry Markos, Matt Gibbs, Doctor Geof, Conor McCreery, Anthony Del Col, Jimmy Aquino, and James Pearson (Bayou Arcana).
Here are some pictures and a short video…

That was the week that was. We had a blast at Tomorrow’s World… Today. We launched Clockwork Watch with an immersive prologue, and participants had a chance to interact with characters from the story. We also made sure that the first batch of “The Arrival” were in the post, and were being delivered prior to the event.
So what happened? Well, you need to read the latest news in the London Gazette…
